Boxing Gym in Siem Reap: Where to Train Punches, Pads, and Fitness

May 20268 min readBy Kon Phanet & Ramon

Looking for a boxing gym in Siem Reap? Kun Khmer Club isn't a boxing-only gym, but punches, guard work, and pad rounds are the foundation of everything we teach — fists are one of Kun Khmer's four core weapons, and coaches Kon Phanet and Ramon build every beginner's training around them first. If you want hands-focused sessions, real pad work, and conditioning taught by fighters with 50+ combined professional fights, this covers it — with kicks, knees, and elbows available too, whenever you're ready for them. There's no pressure to move beyond punches if that's not what you're after; plenty of people stay purely hands-focused for their entire time training with us.

Punches Are the Foundation, Not the Whole Story

Every new student at Kun Khmer Club starts in roughly the same place: stance, guard, and basic punches on pads, because that's the fastest way to build the coordination and distance control everything else depends on. It also means the class works fine as a pure boxing-style session if that's what you're after — plenty of people train here for the punching, pad work, and cardio alone without ever moving on to kicks, knees, or elbows. The difference from a dedicated boxing gym is simply that the option to expand is already built in, taught by coaches who've fought professionally in Cambodia and know how to build a fighter's hands from zero. A dedicated boxing-only gym will drill combinations and footwork you'd recognize from any Western boxing class; the coaching approach here is the same in that regard, just delivered by trainers whose own fight experience happened under Kun Khmer's ruleset rather than a boxing federation's.

What a Punch-Focused Session Looks Like

  • Shadowboxing and footwork to warm up and set stance
  • Guard and combination work — jab, cross, hooks, uppercuts — broken down step by step
  • Mitt and pad rounds with a coach for live combination practice, with real-time corrections on guard and power
  • Bag work and conditioning to close out the session and build punching endurance
  • Kicks, knees, and elbows layered in later for anyone who wants to go beyond boxing fundamentals, entirely optional

Group class starts every day at 5:00 PM, and gloves, wraps, and pads are all supplied, so you don't need to own or bring a thing. Beginners and complete newcomers to boxing are the norm here, not the exception, and there's no contract required — a day pass gets you a full session. Women and kids are welcome in the regular class, and groups of either can arrange a dedicated time by messaging ahead. If you want more focused hands-only coaching than a group setting allows, a private 1-on-1 session lets a coach spend the full hour correcting your guard, footwork, and combinations one-on-one. FAQ

Can I train just boxing here without doing kicks or knees?

Yes. Punches, guard, and pad work are the foundation for every beginner, and plenty of students focus on that alone.

Do I need to bring gloves or wraps?

No — all gear is provided, and training is barefoot on mats, so you can arrive with nothing but workout clothes.

What if I want a private lesson instead of the group class?

Private 1-on-1 sessions are $20 per class and can be arranged directly with a coach at a time that works for you.

Is this suitable for general fitness, not just fighting?

Yes. Pad work and conditioning are a full-body workout on their own, and many students train purely for fitness.
